CMC, Ritek 18x DVD media production limited, tight supply possible.

Although several leading global brands have already launched or will soon offer 18x DVD burners, CMC Magnetics and Ritek, Taiwan"s top two makers of optical discs, currently produce 18x DVD+R/-R discs only in limited volumes and the supply may fall significantly short of global demand, according to industry sources. Plextor, Lite-On IT, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Sony, NEC and BenQ currently offer 18x DVD burners while Pioneer and Asustek Computer will do so soon.

ATI starts with CrossFire at 130nm.
ATI Technologies has begun showcasing its new Radeon Xpress 200 CrossFire edition at Computex 2005 today, with the official launch set for June 1 and mass production beginning in July, according to sources at the company. Intel and AMD versions will be available, and the chipset will be initially manufactured on 130nm processes at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and then moved to 110nm, the sources said.
