SecurityEizo announces 10-bit capable professional widescreen LCDs.
Cypress (CA) - Eizo is adding two widescreen models to its ColorEdge series of professional LCD monitors. The new 21" and 24" models offer a 16:10 aspect ratio and include the firm"s 10-bit hardware calibration technology and 14-bit color processing capability.
The new monitors, which will ship in March of this year, are designed for graphics professional such as CAD engineers that look for an accurate display of colors. The ColorEdge CE240W and CE210W integrate the same ASIC (application specific integrated circuit), which was introduced last year in the firm"s CG220 flagship monitor.
According to Eizo, the technology provides 14-bit color processing capability for accurate grayscale and color rendering even in darker tones, which are typically difficult for LCD monitors to reproduce accurately. Using a 10-bit look-up table, the CE240W and CE210W are able to select and display the 256 most appropriate tones for red, green, and blue.
The 24" CE240W offers a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 pixels, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness of 450 cd/m2. Maximum power consumption is rated at 110 watts. The 21" CE210W delivers 1680x1050 pixels and consumes up to 80 watts, while providing the same levels of contrast and brightness. Both monitors integrate include dual DVI-I inputs and a USB 2.0 hub.
Pricing of the monitors has not been announced, but we expect the monitors to list for substantially less than the 22" model CG220, which currently retails for about $5000.
