First-tier mobo makers: June shipments up 28 percent.

First-tier motherboard makers Asustek Computer, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), Gigabyte Technology and Micro-Star International (MSI) collectively shipped about 7.9 million motherboards in June, up 27.8 percent from 6.18 million units during the same period of last year.

Pre-N to replace 802.11g faster than expected.
In 2007, networking products based on a preliminary version of the IEEE 802.11n standard (so called "pre-N" products) will replace 802.11g devices faster than it was earlier expected, and they will likely dominate the consumer WLAN market in North America by the end of this year, said Ken Kao, chairman of D-Link. Since the pre-N market has been in stagnation for a while, WLAN device vendors are expected to resort to aggressive pricing strategy to stir up demand, and this would help accelerating the migration from 802.11g to 802.11n, Kao stated.
