Intel to continue shipping 865-series chipsets in Q1 2007.

Intel plans to continue to ship its entry-level 865-series chipsets in the first quarter of 2007, with an amount to account for 10% of its total chipset shipments, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers. The motherboard makers feel that Intel"s latest 865 series roadmap could affect their sales in the second half of this year, although the move is aiming at protecting Intel"s market shares in the entry-level and OEM segments.

A-DATA to OCZ: 64MB Cache on SSD? Easy.
Not to be outdone by the impending release of OCZò€™s high-performance Vertex series of solid-state drives, A-DATA has announced a new 256 GB SSD that features the same 64 MB of internal cache as OCZò€™s product.Ò  The company was showing off the SATAII SSD 300 Plus, as well as its mammoth 512 GB XPG SSD, at this yearò€™s Cebit show in Hanover, Germany. The loss of capacity isnò€™t that bad of a deal if you look at it like a fat runner shedding weight; A-DATA is boasting speeds of up to 250 MB/secÒ and 160 MB/sec on the driveò€™s sustained reads and writes, respectively. That"s 20 MB/sec faster reads than the company"s XPG SSD.
