SaaS Acceleration Solutions Help Software Companies Transition to SaaS

Scio Consulting today announced its SaaS Acceleration Solutions, a collection of services designed to assist small and medium-size software companies (ISVs) transition new product ideas or portions of their existing on-premise application portfolio to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). SAN JOSE, CA, December 20, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scio Consulting today announced its SaaS Acceleration Solutions, a collection of services designed to assist small and medium-size software companies (ISVs) transition new product ideas or portions of their existing on-premise application portfolio to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). "In the current economic conditions, it is especially important for software companies to offer solutions that provide their customers an alternative to the traditional front-loaded licensing model," states Luis Aburto, Scio founder and CEO. To assist software companies make a smooth and rapid transition to SaaS, Scio developed three major service components to create a SaaS Acceleration Solutions offering. The first component is a business consulting assignment, called the "SaaS Readiness Evaluation", to help ISVs to examine the SaaS business model for their own market and products. The engagement covers business planning, market analysis, application evaluation and includes a SaaS business case and a working prototype. The latter can be used to acquire working capital for development phases, or can be presented to potential clients for buy-in and feedback. "This brief engagement enables ISVs to leverage our extensive SaaS expertise to quickly and cost-effectively build a roadmap leading to product profitability. It will provide them with the opportunity to visualize and validate their software positioned as SaaS before they invest significant resources in development," states Aburto. The second component is a "SaaS Technical Assessment", which provides technical recommendations related to the issues that will affect the performance, scalability, manageability and security of the application, such as application architecture, tenancy and provisioning model options, integration requirements, database design, infrastructure architecture, and usability. The third component is SaaS application development services using resources from the Scio Nearshore Delivery Center, leveraging cost-effective software development resources experienced in building SaaS applications. "Our team is experienced with Agile development methodologies and web application product development best practices," adds Aburto. The development team is experienced with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) rapid development tools as well as custom development of SaaS applications. ISVs can engage Scio either for specific business and technical consulting needs, as a nearshore outsourced product development partner or for nearshore team augmentation. With all of these approaches, ISVs benefit from the SaaS and Agile development experience of the Scio team and from the close geographical and time zone proximity of Mexico.
