Samsung Corning to roll out FFL backlight units for 40" range TVs.
Having developed flat fluorescent lamp (FFL) backlight units (BLUs) for 32" LCD TVs, Samsung Corning plans to start volume producing FFL BLUs for 40" and 46" TVs soon, the company said. The 32" TV-use FFL BLUs have been booked by Samsung Electronics, and Samsung Corning plans to boost its FFL BLU capacity from one million units per year to two million, with second-stage construction plans also under way, the BLU maker said.
