The Universe Is 13.73 Billion Years Old.

NASA"s Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) has released new data that shed light on the age of the Universe. Phil Plait from Bad Astronomy has compiled the data collected over a five-year period and came up with a number that points to an age of the Universe of about 13.73 billion years.

Agere unveils system-on-a-chip for portable HDD devices.
Agere Systems today announced a new highly integrated system-on-a-chip (SoC) for miniature hard disk drives (HDDs) used in portable consumer electronics (CE) devices. The low-power chip provides complete support for perpendicular recording and new interface standards that enable small-form-factor (SFF) system makers to offer three times the capacity of flash-based storage with lower cost, claims the company.

Yahoo! Autos cooking oil-powered car set a land speed record over the weekend at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed near Victorville California. The heavily modified six-cylinder, "Lipid Lightning" truck reached 98.155 mph which, according to Yahoo, is a record for a grease car.
